The natural diet for humans
Dr. Mercola says:
"It is no mystery that you are what you eat. Ideally you’ll want to eat as many foods as possible in their unprocessed state; typically organic, biodynamic foods that have been grown locally, and are therefore in season.
But the challenge is, even when you chose the best foods available you can destroy most of the nutrition if you cook them.
I believe it’s really wise to strive to get as much raw food in your diet as possible. I personally try to eat about 85 percent of my food raw, including raw eggs and meats. And there are a number of reasons for this." (link to article)

But the challenge is, even when you choose the best foods available you can destroy most of the nutrition if you cook them.
I believe that consuming a mostly raw food diet is a wise decision you can make for your health. I personally try to eat about 85 percent of my food raw, including raw eggs and humanely raised organic animal products that have not been factory farmed. And there are a number of reasons for this.
For starters, cooking your food, especially at high temperatures, destroys naturally occurring enzymes. Enzymes are proteins; catalysts to speed up and facilitate reactions in your body. In fact, some biochemical reactions will not even occur without these enzymes (you have about 1,300 of them).
So if all of your food is cooked, your body is going to be deficient in the enzymes it needs to function properly." (link to article)

Importance of Grass-fed beef http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/05/21/grass-fed-beef-dairy.aspx
My experience
Most mainstream Paleo Diet guidelines are cooked meat. However, I do not understand what the fuss is about raw meat? We've been eating it for millions of years before cooking was invented, and millions around the world continue to eat it today: sushi, sashimi, steak tartare, carpaccio, ceviche...and the list goes on. Western Medicine and Big Pharma has demonized this life-saving raw food, making it seem like the worst poison in the world: telling us that eating raw meat will kill us! Big fat lies! (do not eat raw grain-fed factory farmed meat though)
Experiment yourself on cooked vs. raw: try eat 1 meal of well-done thoroughly cooked beef steak and then 1 meal of rare lightly cooked (seared on each side for 20-30 seconds) beef steak (use equal portions of meat for experimental purposes). You will clearly experience much easier digestion when eating the lightly cooked steak.
If you're scared to go 100% raw, start by cooking the meat to medium, then medium-rare, then rare (fry/sear each side of beef/lamb steak for 30 seconds to cook outside) ... until it is raw. Most Westerners are already used to eating rare steaks (the more raw it is, the more tender and better it tastes right?), so 100% raw shouldn't be that much of a difference.
For more detailed cooking instructions, Google "how to cook blue steak" or "how to cook rare steak"
If you're afraid of bad parasites or bad bacteria in raw meat, after a raw meat meal and your stomach is at least 50% full, you can eat 1-4 cloves of raw garlic and 1-6 pieces of raw ginger. Do not eat raw garlic on empty stomach! It will burn and hurt!
How I eat raw garlic: (use same steps below for raw ginger eating)
- Peel skin off garlic
- Chop up raw garlic into small size pieces similar to pills/tablets/capsules
- Put in mouth, quickly drink 1 mouthful of water so raw garlic doesn't sting tongue, then chew a few times to crush garlic pieces to release allicin before swallowing.
Dr. Mercola says: "The fresh clove must be crushed or chopped in order to stimulate the release of an enzyme called alliinase, which in turn catalyzes the formation of allicin.13Allicin in turn rapidly breaks down to form a number of different organosulfur compounds. So to "activate" garlic's medicinal properties, compress a fresh clove with a spoon prior to swallowing it, or put it through your juicer to add to your vegetable juice." (link to article)
For further reading on garlic: Google "Mercola raw garlic"
Most of us that have eaten cooked food for most of our lives have damaged digestive systems.
I take digestion supplements I buy from iHerb.com:
- Doctor's Best, Betaine HCl, Pepsin & Gentian Bitters, 360 Capsules
- Ox Bile, 500 mg, 100 Veggie Caps
- Pancreas, Natural Glandular (Pork), 720 Veggie Caps - this is the most powerful digestive enzyme supplement, better than plant-based enzymes
- http://hk.iherb.com/search?kw=nutricology+pancreas for smaller container sizes (90 caps) of pancreas supplement
If you are severely ill and desperate for rapid recovery, raw paleo is the way to go. Any cooked food (even lightly-cooked) will slow down the healing with the heat-created carcinogenic toxins ([Link with many articles] [Link] [Link2] - from "Journal of the American Dietetic Association") - shows that meat/fat when cooked has highest amounts of cooked food toxins), though it may be useful at times to slow detox when it becomes unbearable for highly toxic bodies (Aajonus Vonderplanitz says for elders with highly toxic bodies, 1 cooked meal of chicken or some cooked starch (I would try starch first - less harmful) a week helps to slow down detox.

Important information for newbies to Raw Paleo Diet - (must-read for people new to RPD) http://www.rawpaleodietforum.com/important-info-for-newbies/?PHPSESSID=ik870uki43dadbne173bslb204 Excellent site with FAQ of raw meat diets (including common E. Coli, Salmonella, parasites fears etc.) http://en.allexperts.com/q/Special-Diets-768/ Read Aajonus Vonderplanitz's book "We Want to Live", available for purchase below (PDF soft copy or hard copy available): http://www.wewant2live.com/products-page/ I bought the PDF ebook to read on my smartphone and for the ability to search for keywords - a real time-saver. A gentle warning: Most people on the RPD forum mention that they don't consume raw honey, raw dairy, raw eggs, raw vegetable juice as much as Aajonus promotes them. Raw dairy and eggs are not really Paleo: dairy would not be consumed by true hunter-gatherers without domesticated animals; eggs are hard to find in nature and most would have hatched into birds. This may be the reason why some people are allergic to raw dairy and eggs, although you could be allergic to any food (no matter how natural) if your body is damaged severely. e.g. some people are allergic to beef. There are many other general Paleo forums that do not focus on raw. Here are some: http://cavemanforum.com/ http://paleoplanet69529.yuku.com/ http://paleohacks.com/ |

Not so taboo afterall... https://www.today.com/food/adventurous-eater-try-raw-live-lobster-1C9005480 Excerpt from LA Times article The arguments are by no means simple. Understanding them requires understanding the bug itself. Salmonella was discovered in 1887 by the American veterinarian Daniel Elmer Salmon. Today, we know salmonella is a large genus of bacteria, with more than 2,000 strains or serotypes. Some are strictly human, such as typhoid (S. typhi). Others, benign for us, are lethal to rodents and are even used in rodenticides. Yet others, such as S. pullorum and S. gallinarum, are considered almost entirely diseases of birds. Many are adaptable and can find homes in most vertebrates. John R. Roth, a professor of biology at the University of Utah, has been studying salmonella for 40 years. "It is mostly reported as a pathogen," he says, "but probably it exists in very many organisms at a low level where it's not a pathogen but living as part of the gut flora." To his mind, the idea of banishing it is faintly absurd. "Salmonella is distributed pretty widely, and if you're willing to look closely enough, you'd probably find it almost everywhere," he says. Peter Barton Hutt, formerly with the FDA and now a lecturer on food safety at Harvard University, is a long-standing critic of the numbers. "The statistics are all over the place," he says, "because none of them are any good. They are all wild guesses. What people do is gather statistics of reported cases and extrapolate from there. It then all depends on what multiple you choose." My comments
http://www.rawpaleodietforum.com/journals/letsdoiteczema's-experiments/ Continuously updated healing journal on RawPaleoDietForum.
This is only my opinion, there are MANY others on RawPaleoDietForum.com that don't use uropathy and do fine without it. (everyone eats sushi [raw meat] without problems right?)
To be totally honest, I wouldn't have tried the Raw Paleo Diet (RPD) if I didn't discover uropathy, because I would be so scared of the potential of food poisoning from the raw meat, given the weakness of my body suffering from a severe full body rash. With uropathy, I have never gotten food poisoning from RPD since Dec 2011. The theory is that the minute quantities of bacteria in your own urine acts as vaccine for your immune system, so you never get sick (MMA UFC champion Lyoto Machida agrees after curing his persistent 3-year cough with uropathy). Uropathy is also more powerful and effective than any man-made antibiotic, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic and anti-viral medicine (I know this is a really big claim, but if you read "Your Own Perfect Medicine", you will see that medical reports can confirm this claim)
My RPD journey started because of this website - http://www.eczemacure.info, so big thanks to Edwin Casimero from the Philippines! He also has a host of other websites dedicated to RPD:

Summary of my current diet
Note: I am still experimenting with the Paleo Diet and this is just what has been working for me recently. This is by NO means "the best diet" for everyone out there. I urge you to do some research and experiment for yourself the ratio of fruits/veg and meat (muscle meat and bone marrow fat), cooked vs. raw etc.
High-carb, high fat (100% raw) experiment (2013-present)
I was feeling tired on low-carb and was always thirsty despite drinking a lot of mineral water. I felt better when I ate more watery organic fruits like oranges, apples, melons. Not all my fruits are organic.
Low-carb, high fat (100% raw) experiment (May 2012-2013)
Quick summary: most people on RPD forum are practicing, or gradually shift to a low-carb diet. I came from a high-fruit vegan diet when I first started RPD, and was not ready for huge amounts of meat/fat, but I have gradually found my instincts guiding me to eat less fruits (if I eat too much I find them too sweet), little vegetables. Naturally, this would lead to more raw meat, organ meats and fat.
Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet (since start of RPD at Dec 2011 to May 2012)
Breakfast: Organic fruit and/or vegetables. Fruits: bananas (very ripe - covered in black spots; skin easy to peel), pears, apples, grapes, strawberries, blueberries etc. Vegetables: some vegetables are bitter when eaten raw like spinach, kale, cabbage - avoid these. Non-bitter vegetables are lettuce, zucchini, cucumber, carrots etc. For recipes Google "raw vegan salad dressing" or "raw fruit vegan recipe" etc.
Lunch or dinner: All raw muscle meat and/or raw organ meats and/or raw bone marrow (organic, grass-fed, free-range or wild-caught), e.g. chicken, beef, turkey, fish, deer, lamb
Dinner: Some fruit or meat depending on what I desire. Finishing not later than 8pm - bad to go to sleep with full stomach.
Important notes (summarized from discussions on RawPaleoDietForum):

Important notes (summarized from discussions on RawPaleoDietForum):
- Organic grass-fed (this is difficult to find) > non-organic grass-fed (much easier to find. Usually meats from New Zealand and Australia are grass-fed but always make sure) > organic grain-fed > non-organic grain-fed (loaded with antibiotics, hormones etc., basically sick animal meat that will make you sick if you eat it) ">" symbol = better than. [Sources]
- Not to mix [fruits&veg] and meat together because they require different digestive acids to digest. Fruits can be eaten with vegetables with vegetables eaten last, as fruits digest very quickly. It is best to wait around 20-30 or even 60 mins after a fruit meal before eating meat. Some people can tolerate mixing foods if their digestion system is strong.
- Careful with eating too many raw organ meats, as it will accelerate the detoxifying process. Your organs will heal rapidly with the highly dense nutrients from raw organ meats. I had a bunch of painful pimples appear behind my right knee when I accidentally ate too many pieces of raw organic chicken liver the first time. It might be a good idea for new RPD-ers to start with a square inch of raw organ meat daily, or every other day, then gradually increase if there are no adverse detox reactions.
- In the first few days (or weeks, depending on your body) of transitioning into RPD, you might experience strange and intense food cravings and will be extremely tempted to mix fruits with meat. Don't beat yourself up too hard if you give in to the cravings. It's all normal, and they will soon disappear.
- Raw fat is very nutritious and important for those healing from severe illnesses. It also makes your stomach feel full and satisfied. I eat around half a tennis-ball size amount of raw grass-fed beef bone marrow fat every day. Sometimes less, usually not more. I go with my instincts; don't force yourself if it doesn't taste good at first, slowly add more every day. Start with small amounts. Most of us (including me) have been fed a relatively low-fat diet since birth and our bodies need time to adapt to a high-fat raw paleo diet.
- Be VERY aware of when your stomach feels full so you don't overeat, but eat until you are satisfied - fruits and meat / fat. Recently, I have noticed myself eating fruit until only half-full, as I don't want anymore. Then after 30 mins, I eat raw meat / raw fat until I'm satisfied. It depends on the individual but don't force yourself on anything. Most of us were fed on a cooked diet since birth and we associate the "heavy" stomach feeling after a meal with fullness. When transitioning to raw paleo, you may find that raw fruits, meat and fat feel a lot lighter on your stomach.
- Since the beginning of my RPD diet and even till now, I spit out all the tough white unchewable fibrous tissue from raw meats/organs - the stuff that is like chewing gum. Reason is after my first ever meal of raw beef where I swallowed all the tough fibrous tissue, I ended up vomiting out the tough tissue. It was a strange experience - the painless vomiting: no stomach pain or cramp, no excess saliva produced in mouth with sour taste, just a feeling of stuff needing to come back up. After this, I continued to spit out tough unchewable parts in meat and I have never vomited again with my RPD diet.
- It is best to not eat any food cold or chilled straight from the fridge/freezer. TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), Andrea Moritz, and many other famous natural health authors say that cold food damages internal organs when consumed. Solutions: 1) Let meat or fruit sit out in room temperature for 30 mins before eating. 2) Alternatively, soak the glass tupperware with food in warm/hot water to warm the food contained inside. 3) Sear the meat (steak) taken from fridge for 20-30 seconds each side just enough to warm the meat.
- Drink warm to hot water. Avoid cold water.
